Flipping t.v. channels one day I landed three-quarters into a movie (Shades of Fear) where a man was talking about a painting being a living thing.

Certainly there can be refuge in shielding one's eyes from time to time. Yet, recognizing where or when one is lost can have as many positive outcomes as devastating ones. Perspective is key.
